these prints were made on the vermont studio center press. i was trying to make prints like the excellent wood cuts of the romainian brothers gert and uwe tobial who i'd just seen at whitechapel in london. i experimented with using printers ink and a roller with hand cut stencils from yupo paper. because this was a lot (a lot) harder to do than it looked, i had to go in with oil paint to create the more detailed forms that hang around the edges. they have a quality not unlike neighborhood busybodies and are often caught in conversation with each other or peering into each others business.
